I would like to introduce the efforts of the “Yahoo! JAPAN Transit Navigation” team, which is working on unearthing legacy code and improving the developer experience in the development environment of a historic iOS application that has been in service for approximately 17 years. By unraveling the code accumulated over these 17 years and transforming the current organization to take greater ownership of its own code, we aim to convey why it is crucial to minimize technical debt as much as possible.

Changing Legacy Code Supporting "Yahoo! JAPAN Transit Navigation" iOS App
Speaker

After graduating from university, I was involved in planning and developing services for smart speakers, as well as developing and operating iOS applications for public transportation services, real estate search services, and more. In 2023, I joined Yahoo Japan Corporation as a mid-career hire. After joining, I have been working on the development of iOS applications for "Yahoo! JAPAN Maps" and "Yahoo! JAPAN Transit Navigation". I focus on speed in providing value to users while continually exploring how to enhance the developer experience for engineers.
I love birds, and I carry out my daily work surrounded by my family's parrots and parakeets.
