Within the system that has supported former Yahoo Japan’s notifications for many years, there is a component responsible for finding user settings that match the event content. However, in recent years, issues such as the difficulty of building and maintaining the system, as well as its dependence on IaaS, have become prominent.
To address these problems while maintaining compatibility, we developed a new component. The new component includes measures such as reducing modification costs by changing the development language and improving resource efficiency through component segmentation and centralized management of internal caches. Additionally, to verify that the developed system operates without issues, we compared the input and output of the old and new systems.
In this presentation, we will explain the redesign of the large-scale notification system, the challenges faced during the process, and the solutions implemented.
